Affiliate Disclosure

Anime Routes Japan uses affiliate links to help fund the research, travel, and writing behind our guides. This page explains what that means for you as a reader.

What an Affiliate Link Is

Some of the links on this site may be affiliate links. If you follow one of them and go on to make a booking or a purchase, Anime Routes Japan may receive a commission from the company providing that service.

What It Costs You

Using an affiliate link does not normally add anything to the price you pay. In most cases the cost is the same as it would be if you had gone to the provider directly. If we ever link to something where that is not the case, we will say so on the page itself.

Where Affiliate Links May Appear

We expect affiliate links to sit alongside the practical parts of our guides:

  • Hotels and other accommodation
  • Transportation, including rail passes and tickets
  • Rental cars
  • eSIM and mobile data services
  • Tours, activities, and experiences
  • Other travel-related services

How We Disclose Them

Where a commercial relationship exists, we disclose it. Pages that contain affiliate links will say so, and when affiliate links are introduced we intend to mark them appropriately, including using sponsored attributes where applicable. We would rather state this plainly than bury it in small print.

How Recommendations Are Chosen

We write a guide first and think about monetization afterwards. A service is mentioned because it is useful for the trip being described, and whether or not it has an affiliate program is not what decides which places, routes, or operators appear in our guides.

At the same time, commissions are part of how this site is funded, and we think you should know that when you read a recommendation. Prices, availability, and conditions change constantly, so please compare options yourself before booking anything.

Current Status

Anime Routes Japan takes part in the Trip.com affiliate program. Where one of our guides links to Trip.com, that link is an affiliate link: if you follow it and go on to make a booking, we may receive a commission from Trip.com.

Trip.com is the only affiliate program this site currently participates in. As of 18 October 2026 the only affiliate link published is a search for hotels in Tokyo. It appears in the Where to Stay section of our Bocchi the Rock! guide to Shimokitazawa and, since 13 October 2026, in the Where to Stay section of the Traditional Chinese edition of the same guide and, since 18 October 2026, of the Korean edition. All three are the same link to the same hotel search: one affiliate link, published on three pages. It is labelled as an affiliate link on each page and carries a sponsored attribute. This page will be updated if we join other programs or publish further links.
